Η Ελευθερία Κατσίρη είναι διπλωματούχος Μηχανικός Η/Υ και Πληροφορικής του Πανεπιστημίου Πατρών (1998) και κάτοχος διδακτορικού από το Engineering Department του Πανεπιστημίου του Cambridge (2005). Από το 1998 έως το 2000 εργάστηκε ως Systems Analyst στην εταιρεία Procter & Gamble στις Βρυξέλλες. Από το 2005 έως το 2007 εργάστηκε ως μεταδιδακτορικός ερευνητής στο Department of Computing, Imperial College London, σε συνεργασίες με τις ερευνητικές ομάδες London e-Science Centre και Distributed Software Engineering. Από το 2007 έως το 2010 εργάστηκε ως Λέκτορας στην Πληροφορική στο Birkbeck College, University of London Επίσης έχει εργαστεί ως developer για τις εταιρείες Velti dR στο Λονδίνο και Cetrus Inc στο San Ramon στην Καλιφόρνια, ως σύμβουλος του Υφυπουργού Παιδείας Ι. Πανάρετου σε θέματα e-Government, καθώς και ως επιστημονικός συνεργάτης στο Ι.Π.Σ.Υ. του Ε.Κ. «Αθηνά» με αντίκειμενο το μεσισμικό (middleware).
Σήμερα είναι μόνιμη Επίκουρη Καθηγήτρια στη σχολή Ηλεκτρολόγων Μηχανικών και Μηχανικών Υπολογιστών στο Δημοκρίτειο Πανεπιστήμιο Θράκης και συνεργαζόμενο μέλος ΔΕΠ στο Ε.Κ. «Αθηνά» ενώ το 2020 ήταν Επισκέπτρια Καθηγήτρια στο Computer Laboratory του Πανεπιστημίου του Cambridge. Τα ερευνητικά της ενδιαφέροντα σχετίζονται με προγραμματιστικά μοντέλα και υπηρεσίες για το διάχυτο υπολογισμό (ubiquitous computing), τα δίκτυα αισθητήρων (sensor networks), το Διαδίκτυο των Πραγμάτων (Internet of Things) και τα σοβαρά παιχνίδια (serious games). Έχει περισσότερες από 10 δημοσιεύσεις σε διεθνή επιστημονικά περιοδικά με κριτές και 30 συμμετοχές σε διεθνή συνέδρια με δημοσιευμένα πρακτικά. Το έργο της έχει περισσότερες από 267 αναφορές. Έχει συμμετάσχει ως συντονίστρια σε ένα εθνικό ερευνητικό έργο (ALPINE), ένα ευρωπαϊκό (Cross4Health) και τρεις εθνικές δράσεις καινοτομίας (Air-19, Smart Sustainable Dairy Buildings, Safe, covid-free Athletic Spaces), ως επιστημονικός υπεύθυνος ενός πακέτου εργασίας σε δύο εθνικά ερευνητικά έργα (Hydropolis, e-polis of the Future,) και ως ερευνητής σε δύο ευρωπαϊκά έργα (SPICE, iWidget), σε δύο βρετανικά έργα (ICENI II, UbiMon) και σε τέσσερα εθνικά έργα έρευνας και καινοτομίας (RFCure, Greenactions, CAP, Empowered).
Eleftheria Katsiri holds a degree in Computer Engineering and Informatics from the University of Patras (1998) and a PhD from the Engineering Department of the University of Cambridge (2005). From 1998 to 2000 she worked as a Systems Analyst at Procter & Gamble in Brussels. From 2005 to 2007 he worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Computing, Imperial College London, in collaboration with the London e-Science Centre and Distributed Software Engineering research groups. From 2007 to 2010 he worked as a Lecturer in Computer Science at Birkbeck College, University of London He has also worked as a developer for Velti dR in London and Cetrus Inc. in San Ramon, California, as an advisor to the Deputy Minister of Education I. Panaretos on e-Government issues, and as a research associate at the I.P.S.Y. of the E.C. “Athena” with a focus on middleware.
Currently, she is tenured Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Democritus University of Thrace and an associate faculty member at R.C. “Athena”, while in 2020 she was a Visiting Professor at the Computer Laboratory of the University of Cambridge. Her research interests are related to programming models and services for ubiquitous computing, sensor networks, the Internet of Things and serious games. She has more than 10 publications in peer-reviewed international journals and 30 participations in international conferences with published proceedings. Her work has more than 267 citations. She has participated as a coordinator in one national research project (ALPINE), one European (Cross4Health) and three national innovation actions (Air-19, Smart Sustainable Dairy Buildings, Safe, covid-free Athletic Spaces), as a scientific leader of a work package in two national research projects (Hydropolis, e-polis of the Future,) and as a researcher in two European projects (SPICE, iWidget), two UK projects (ICENI II, UbiMon) and four national research and innovation projects (RFCure, Greenactions, CAP, Empowered).
